Ok, where does one buy PCs in the US?

Dear Lazyweb,

So, do people tend to buy PCs in the US from online yum-cha shops like we do here in Australia? Do people just buy Dell? Do they buy random incredibly cheap brands I have never heard of before?

Where would you recommend for PC purchases in the US? Why?
